Your Account > Bill Assistance > Energy AssistanceResidential Energy AssistanceThis program is designed to ease the immediate energy burden facing our customers with limited financial resources. Energy Assistance is a one-time bill credit each heating season (i.e., October 1st through May 15th). Eligible customers will receive a letter from New Glarus Utilities indicating that a credit has been applied directly to their electric utility account. State legislation passed in Spring 2009 changed the income guidelines, making more households eligible for energy assistance. To qualify for energy assistance you must now have a gross household income at or below 60% of the state median income; as described below:
To apply for energy assistance contact Green County Human Services at (608) 328-9393. Green County Human Services is located at N3152 Highway 81, Monroe, WI. Office hours: M, W-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; T 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Customers must reapply for energy assistance each year! However, if you have previously applied in-person at Green County Human Services, you can reapply by simply completing their "Home Energy Plus Application," and mailing it to Green County. Home Energy Plus Applications are available at the utility office in Village Hall or at Green County Human Services in Monroe. If you have any questions, please contact the utility office at (608) 527-2913 or email. Note: Applications for energy assistance are only approved for credit from October 1st to May 15th of each year. New Glarus Utilities’s energy assistance program is in cooperation with the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP). To learn more about WHEAP click here.
